Rediscovering My Affection for the Mac: A Week with the M2 Air

Chapter 1: My Journey with the M2 MacBook Air
After spending a week with the M2 MacBook Air, I find myself truly enamored with it...
While an extensive review is in the works, I felt compelled to express my immediate emotions regarding Apple’s latest M2 MacBook Air. This won’t be a lengthy piece; in fact, it might be one of my briefest tech articles. However, I believe it’s essential to convey my genuine feelings—rather than just thoughts—about this new laptop.
As many know, I am a fan of Apple products. However, my excitement doesn’t come easily, even when it bears the iconic logo. It’s similar to being attracted to a particular type of person but not being drawn to everyone who fits that description. Just because a product is from Apple doesn’t automatically mean it’s outstanding, thrilling, or practical. There are a few items from Cupertino that I wouldn’t regard positively, such as the standalone trackpad or the wheels for the Mac Pro case. In reality, most Apple products I appreciate for their quality, functionality, and reliability, rather than for any emotional attachment.
The first Apple device that truly captured my heart was the 11” MacBook Air. Yes, that tiny model. Many would argue it was one of the least suitable developer machines within the Apple ecosystem. It lacked power and wasn’t large enough for long development sessions, but its portability made it the most cherished laptop I ever owned. It took seven long years to feel that same connection again—until the M2 MacBook Air arrived...
Section 1.1: A Week in the Life with the M2 MacBook Air
Having spent a week with the M2 MacBook Air, I haven’t yet developed apps on it, but I’ve engaged in nearly all other activities aside from that and 2D animation. Even so, I already feel a strong connection to this device.
The size, weight, and design of the M2 Air inspire me to use it. Picking it up feels incredibly casual compared to previous MacBook Pros. Between the 11” Air and now, every time I approached my laptop, it was a deliberate act—I would settle into my chair, open the lid, connect my external display, and get to work. I had become so accustomed to this routine that even with the M2 Air, I continued the same pattern until I realized that it didn’t have to be that way.
Subsection 1.1.1: Effortless Experience with the M2 Air
It’s genuinely delightful to pick up the M2 Air, whether I’m sitting or standing, opening the lid, and diving into my tasks. The ease of it all is revolutionary. Don’t misunderstand me; my 16” M1 Pro and 15” Intel Pro are both excellent machines that perform reliably. Yet, they often felt more like desktop computers rather than portable devices. The M2 Air shifts that perception, as it packs impressive technology into a smaller frame, reminiscent of a compact version of the M1 Pro. It feels as if my hefty 16” laptop underwent a transformation, becoming lighter and more agile.
I’m aware that this might be more of a psychological effect, but to me, the M2 Air feels like a Pro, and I absolutely adore that.
Chapter 2: New Ventures and Creativity
The first video titled "Mac Miller - Love Lost" beautifully encapsulates the emotions of falling in love, akin to my experience with the M2 MacBook Air.
The second video, also "Mac Miller - Love Lost," further deepens this emotional connection, paralleling my journey with this new device.
This year marks a revival of my passion for both LEGO and the Mac. Recently, I launched a new publication titled "Bricks n’ Brackets," focusing on LEGO, technology, and coding. It would mean a lot if you’d consider following it—only if those subjects spark your interest. You can also explore the rationale behind my publication and my overall vision for it. If you’re interested in contributing as a writer on these topics, I welcome your submissions. The publication also features YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok channels. Thank you, and may your day be filled with creativity and success!
