Chapter 1: Celebrating Exceptional Service
In this ongoing series, I want to highlight businesses that truly impress me with their outstanding customer service. These articles will not only showcase remarkable establishments but will also offer insights beneficial for nonprofit fundraising teams as they nurture relationships with donors and their communities. There’s always room for improvement.
This edition shines a spotlight on Dirty Dogs located in Solana Beach, California.
I received an email from them stating, “Since 2008, our family has been committed to elevating the standards of pet care in San Diego. As a local brand, we believe in offering pets the highest quality products and services at competitive prices.”
During a trip to San Diego for Altrui work, I had my dog, Nadia, with me. We decided to spend some time at the beach (it was a self-care day for me!).
Realizing that Nadia’s nails were getting long, I found a nearby place that could assist. I called and heard a voice message providing all the necessary information: nail trims are available on a walk-in basis!
After a delightful time at the beach, we headed over.
Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed. What a fantastic way to connect with potential customers!
Section 1.1: The Importance of Self-Care in Fundraising
Self-care is vital for anyone involved in nonprofit fundraising.
Within just five minutes of mentioning Nadia's need for a nail trim, she was whisked away to the back (where I could easily observe) to have her nails attended to.
“We can also trim her paws if you’d like,” the staff member offered. How thoughtful! I agreed and also asked for a face trim. The woman who handled Nadia's grooming was incredibly gentle and caring. This level of kindness is crucial!
After her grooming session, I was able to give Nadia a bath right there. Once again, the exceptionally friendly staff guided me through the process.
Each team member was fantastic. I felt welcomed and confident that they would take great care of Nadia, which seemed to be their primary goal.
As someone who primarily writes about nonprofit fundraising, I felt compelled to share this experience. The way we make others feel is paramount, and how we treat individuals holds equal significance. The team at Dirty Dogs truly excels in both areas.
Thank you to the wonderful team at Dirty Dogs! I am sincerely appreciative of your service.
