Top 5 Must-Have PSVR 2 Games You Should Consider Right Now

Chapter 1: Introduction to PSVR 2 Games
The release of the PlayStation VR 2 has given gamers the chance to explore a range of exciting launch titles. Contrary to some opinions that the initial lineup is lacking, there are numerous games to keep you engaged for months. From exclusive titles for the PSVR 2 to ports from the original PSVR and Meta Quest 2, we've curated a list of the best games to try.
Section 1.1: Horizon: Call of the Mountain
Horizon: Call of the Mountain (COTM) stands out as a PSVR 2 exclusive crafted to showcase the capabilities of the new headset. Upon starting the game, players will be struck by its stunning visuals. The vibrant world of Horizon is designed to shine on HDR displays, making full use of the PSVR 2's dual HDR 4k lenses.
The game also takes advantage of the powerful PlayStation 5 hardware, offering long draw distances and impressive details in the environments, including massive robotic creatures and lush vegetation that captivate the senses. You may find yourself lost in the breathtaking scenery created by Guerrilla Games.
However, one drawback is the unconventional full-body movement controls that require some awkward motions with the Dual Sense controllers. For example, to move backward, you must push the controls forward, which is designed to simulate the sensation of pushing yourself back. Personally, I found it easier to disable motion controls and utilize the analog sticks for navigation.
Section 1.2: Gran Turismo 7
Among the launch titles for PSVR 2, Gran Turismo 7 is a must-have. The acclaim surrounding GT7 is well-deserved; it offers an unparalleled racing experience. The sense of scale while racing on tracks like Daytona 500 is extraordinary, making you feel as if you're part of a massive event.
There were multiple instances where I became distracted by the intricate details inside the beautifully crafted cars. Textures on the steering wheel and dashboard are incredibly lifelike. The lighting enhances the immersive experience, with sunlight reflecting off the dashboard and the headlights of nearby cars illuminating your interior.
After experiencing Gran Turismo 7 in VR, returning to a flat screen feels almost impossible. The PSVR 2 truly allows this game to reach its full potential.

Section 1.3: Runner
Runner, a delightful surprise announcement for the PSVR 2, immerses players in a cyberpunk environment where you ride a super-fast motorcycle while battling waves of enemies. Although the narrative is minimal, it is delivered through beautifully animated 80s anime-style segments, reminiscent of classic anime.
The gameplay is engaging and straightforward: aim and fire to take down pursuing adversaries. A variety of weapons, including a sword for deflecting projectiles, adds to the fun. If you're a fan of Akira or Blade Runner, this game is a must-play.
Section 1.4: Moss
Moss has previously been available on PSVR 1 and Meta Quest 2, but if you haven't had the chance to play it yet, I highly recommend trying it on PSVR 2. As a fan of third-person VR games, this title perfectly fulfills that desire.
You guide a mouse named Quill as she navigates obstacles, solves puzzles, and faces enemies. The enchanting storybook aesthetic enhances the journey, and Quill's awareness of your presence adds a unique touch to the experience. The PlayStation Store offers Quill Books 1 & 2 as a bundle, with individual purchases available for those unsure if the game is right for them.
Section 1.5: Kayak VR
The PSVR 2 lineup includes distinctive experiences that traditional gaming cannot replicate. Kayak VR stands out as a top choice for showcasing virtual reality to friends. The game allows for leisurely exploration of stunning environments without competitive gameplay.
The controls are intuitive; simply paddle in your desired direction and soak in the breathtaking scenery. The vibrant visuals are striking in HDR, with the option to experience each scene at different times of day.
While there is a competitive mode for racing against others' times, I believe the true essence of Kayak VR lies in its ability to provide a calming, meditative experience.
Chapter 2: More PSVR 2 Titles to Explore
The PSVR 2 launch window features approximately 63 games, and the titles mentioned above are just a few personal favorites. Many other fantastic options await discovery. Though I'm not a fan of VR horror, the buzz surrounding Resident Evil 8 is worth noting, and a free demo for the VR mode is available on the PlayStation Store.
No Man’s Sky in VR may not dazzle graphically, but its immersive controls offer a fresh experience. Interacting with the environment—such as pressing buttons to launch your ship or pulling arrows from your back—highlights the unique possibilities of VR gaming.
While the investment in a PSVR 2 can be substantial, the value it offers is significant for those who can afford it.
