Chapter 1: Understanding Your Worthiness

You are inherently valuable simply for being who you are.

When I began a relationship with a bodybuilder, I quickly realized that I had some internal work to do regarding my sense of worthiness.

His physique: Flawless. Muscular. Conventionally appealing. Men would often stop him on the street to compliment his looks and express a desire for a similar physique.

My physique: Average. Weak. Bloated. A bit awkward.

(At least, that’s how my insecurities made me feel.)

Despite my feelings, I was determined to get fitter. Every time I hit the gym with him, I felt overwhelmed, but I persisted. Yet, I won't deny that some gym sessions were incredibly challenging.

The gym was often crowded with women who seemed like fitness influencers. These were the types of women I convinced myself were more suited for my boyfriend. They appeared stronger, more attractive, and definitely not bloated.

Even being around them heightened my anxiety. It either motivated me to push myself harder to outshine them or plunged me into shame, making it difficult to finish my workout without tears—sometimes I did cry.

Then one day, after dating this incredible man for a couple of years, a revelation struck me.

"What if being the most attractive person in the room isn’t necessary for me to be deserving of love? What if I could be the most average woman at the gym and still be fully loved?"

In that moment, it felt like the universe opened up to me, and I felt liberated.

I no longer felt the need to monitor him for glances at other women. I didn’t have to brace myself for the next stunning woman we might see. I could stop comparing myself to others and judging both them and myself.

I was simply my 'ordinary' self, and I realized I was worthy of love without conditions.

Fast forward three years: my boyfriend and I were living in Mexico...

There were so many gorgeous women around, especially on the beach where many wore minimal clothing, moving gracefully in and out of the water like deities.

Yet I felt... unfazed.

I could admire their beauty while simultaneously appreciating my own. There was no need to compare or feel threatened by these women regarding my relationship.

My sense of worth was no longer tied to my appearance or my boyfriend's attention.

I was valuable simply because I exist.

For the first time, I thought, "Even if he were to leave me for a 'prettier' woman, that would be his loss. I am valuable not because I'm the best-looking, but simply because I am me."

I had heard others describe this level of relationship security, but I never thought I could feel it myself.

Now, I do. Deeply.

Not because I exerted enough effort to be the most attractive person in the room, but because I came to understand that even if I were the least conventionally attractive person present, I am still inherently deserving of love.

This worthiness comes from within. I don’t require validation from my boyfriend—or anyone else. It belongs to me.

This is the essence of allowing love to dissolve the misconceptions that you must be extraordinary to be enough.

You can simply be yourself, just as you are, and still be enough.

You don't need to be any more remarkable than you already are. There is an abundance of love waiting for you in your ordinariness.
