<Transformative Dental Experiences: Lessons Learned on Healing>

Written on

I tend to procrastinate, waiting until issues escalate before taking decisive steps.

However, this approach is not advisable when it comes to dental care.

Recently, I experienced a significant life lesson in this regard.

The cost? One tooth lost, a serious Streptococcus bacterial infection, and a wealth of knowledge about how dental problems can lead to chronic health issues.

The insights shared here may assist you in addressing severe health challenges, such as chronic fatigue, depression, joint pain, and various other persistent ailments disrupting your life.

It can all begin with what seems like a harmless infection.

Here’s my tale.

My Tooth Trouble

In 2020, a fragment of a tooth adjacent to my wisdom tooth fractured—one of my 32 relatively healthy teeth.

I hadn’t visited a dentist in three decades.

My last dentist had persistently urged me to bridge the gap between my front teeth, a gap celebrated as beautiful in Zimbabwe. Although I’m Dutch, I was swayed by this cultural perspective.

This experience likely contributed to my growing skepticism of dental professionals.

Fast forward to 2020, it took me six months to schedule a dental appointment. I lived under the belief that I could heal any ailment and had a high tolerance for pain.

This mindset led me to confront the darker aspects of dental neglect.

While New-Age mindfulness can promote healing, it can't address a decaying infection rooted deep in your jawbone, where the most hazardous bacteria thrive and can wreak havoc on your life.

One such bacteria: Streptococcus.

This insidious organism can multiply rapidly, endangering your health if it enters your bloodstream.

I finally sought dental help in May 2021, when the discomfort escalated to unbearable levels.

The Initial Treatment

My first appointment brought relief. However, this relief came with a psychological risk I’ll discuss later.

The dentist excised some bone around the damaged area, removed remnants of an old filling, and applied a temporary filling.

Pain alleviated, I left the practice feeling profoundly grateful.

He advised me to return if the pain resurfaced, promising to proceed with a root canal treatment then. This involves drilling a hole, extracting the dead root, cleaning the area, and placing a crown or other form of dental replacement.

The Journey to the Second Treatment

The pain returned after six months—an agonizing cycle that tormented me monthly.

In an attempt to find relief, I resorted to stuffing my mouth with various healing herbs, some of which Simon & Garfunkel didn’t even mention.

I discovered that clove oil and colloidal silver were effective in homeopathic dental care, though caution is necessary with clove, as consuming too much can lead to hallucinations—an intriguing side effect when writhing in pain with a throbbing tooth.

Seeking Natural Remedies First

During these painful episodes, I intensified my Wim Hof Method sessions, which provided some relief. I embraced a natural diet, soaked up the sun in Spain, and maintained a positive mindset.

I began incorporating calcium, fresh orange and lemon juice, and maintained a routine of meditation and yoga in the mornings.

Then, I stumbled upon propolis, a natural antibiotic from bees. I applied raw propolis to my sore tooth and left it there for two days.

Miraculously, the pain vanished.

I thought I had conquered my infection. I believed that with the right mindset and holistic practices, I could heal anything.

In this case, I was tragically mistaken.

The Hard Truth

The pain subsided because the roots of my tooth had died, severing their connection to my nerves.

I was oblivious to the toxic festering occurring at the end of my tooth’s roots.

Eventually, my cheek became swollen, signaling that it was time to seek help again.

I visited another dentist, who took X-rays and revealed the accumulation of toxins at my roots. It resembled a chaotic underground party in a sci-fi movie.

He advised me to have the tooth extracted immediately.

Meanwhile, the Streptococcus bacteria transformed my mouth into a torture chamber, with relentless pain radiating through my throat. Swallowing felt like grappling with an enormous, spiky virus.

Ironically, my intuition had prompted me to have that tooth removed from the very beginning, but my first dentist dismissed my concerns.

The Issue with Traditional Dentistry

Many dentists prefer to perform root canal treatments instead of extractions, often prioritizing the preservation of teeth at all costs.

I acknowledge my perspective may not be entirely objective, yet I have witnessed the devastating effects of over-medication in my family.

Western healthcare often focuses on alleviating symptoms rather than addressing underlying causes.

Here’s a pill for that discomfort; here’s a root canal to eliminate your pain.

With infected and decayed teeth, the root cause is glaringly evident.

Becoming a Dental Advocate

Remember how my initial dentist relieved my pain? At that moment, I was ready to accept any treatment he suggested, no matter how outrageous.

In such a vulnerable state, you may accept any proposed remedy as long as it promises relief.

Instead, take this advice:

Learn about dental health.

Explore the often-controversial world of dentistry. Watch films that challenge conventional views on root canal treatments—they may be restricted for a reason.

Based on my journey, here are some crucial takeaways:

Key Takeaways

  • If you experience any dental pain, do not delay in seeking help. Look for a holistic dentist who understands the interconnectedness of bodily health and is open to extractions.
  • Pain often signals an infection. Identify the source and consider extraction, bearing in mind that individual tolerances to toxins may vary.
  • Teeth are linked to various organs through energetic pathways. Leaving dead tissue beneath a crown can create a breeding ground for harmful bacteria.
  • If you suffer from chronic ailments, investigate any history of root canal treatments. Request advanced imaging to uncover hidden infections, and consult experts about potential extraction.
  • Consider using ozone gas to cleanse the jawbone, as bacteria can linger and resurface.
  • Remember, the conventional healthcare system may profit from keeping you unwell. Is this also true for dental care? Trust your instincts.
  • Your dentist should welcome your input and present a balanced view of treatment options.

Concluding Thoughts

I ventured down the dental highway to distress, only to be awakened by a potentially hazardous Streptococcus infection.

This compelled me to delve into a wealth of information on root canal treatments, infections, and the intricate connections between teeth and overall health.

It’s quite simple: in medical practices, dead bone is typically removed to prevent infections. Yet, this principle is often overlooked in dentistry.

Many dentists lack the medical training that acknowledges the body's intelligence and its natural healing abilities.

Imagine a new healthcare model where dental professionals recognize the interconnectedness of bodily health instead of focusing solely on profits.

I’m grateful to have found a holistic dentist who embraces root canal treatments. However, not everyone may experience issues with them.

Your doctor might overlook the connection between a root canal and various health problems, but your dentist should be aware of these correlations. Advanced imaging should aid in this detection.

While conventional antibiotics addressed my Streptococcus infection, they also eliminated many beneficial bacteria. Nonetheless, I remain thankful for that.

I now prioritize natural healing methods, utilizing the earth's offerings, and am ready to make informed decisions moving forward.

The days of suffering are behind me, and I hope the same for you.
