The Rise of the Steam Deck
In a significant update for gamers, the Steam Deck is now available for immediate purchase without needing to make a reservation. Valve has also introduced the Steam Deck Docking Station, which retails for $89 and is expected to ship within one to two weeks.
Initially launched in February, the Steam Deck faced a lengthy wait for many potential buyers. However, the waiting game is now over, aside from the time it takes for shipping.
Introducing the Docking Station
The newly launched docking station enhances the Steam Deck experience, featuring:
- HDMI Port
- Display Port
- 3x USB 3.1 Ports
- Ethernet Port
These features allow your Steam Deck to function similarly to a Windows PC, provided you install Windows. For those who prefer the Steam Deck's native operating system, the docking station enables keyboard and mouse gameplay, as well as play on a monitor or TV.
New Features and Updates
Valve recently shared a tweet highlighting several enhancements from a recent update, including:
- Expanded docking station options
- Additional keyboard layouts (Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
- Enhanced trackpad typing
- Improved offline mode stability
- Various advanced control commands
- Nested menus
