Embrace the Warmth: A Tribute to My Mother and Her Impact

Chapter 1: A Familiar Face
"Draw near to me, my mother said, and let me see your heart. Do I know you? You look so familiar."
The Warmest Person I Ever Knew
In the 1960s, as I attended college and my sister married her true love, my mother made a significant change in her life. She sold our family home and moved to Austin to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Texas. While many hold their mothers in high esteem, my experiences revealed that my mother was deserving of even greater admiration.
Numerous times, I witnessed strangers stopping her in various places—on the street, in elevators, or at stores—often approaching her with a sense of familiarity. They would quietly express, "I know you from somewhere." My mother would respond with a warm smile, saying, "Oh, I have a common face."
These brief encounters often led to light-hearted conversations that, while seemingly trivial, were sincere and meaningful. In those moments, my mother offered something vital to their spirits, while she, in turn, received the connection her heart craved.
Warmth in Humanity
Individuals like my mother exude warmth, grace, compassion, empathy, and understanding. She had an extraordinary ability to empathize, always considering the feelings of those around her. Warm-hearted people do not intentionally inflict pain; the very thought is distressing to them. They genuinely care, and their presence can be as comforting as a warm stove on a chilly day.
Meeting a warm person is a treasure; both parties leave enriched by the encounter. Their kindness radiates, inviting acceptance that even strangers can feel, although they might struggle to articulate why they are drawn in.
These traits define a beautiful and resilient soul, making it easy for others to share their burdens in their presence. The author encourages everyone to embody warmth and health, as this can significantly bless those around you.
Self-Reflection
I write about the struggles of addiction, the challenges of behaviors, and the complexities of the human spirit. I stand firmly for human rights. With over four decades of experience in addiction prevention, intervention, and treatment, I have witnessed remarkable transformations in the pursuit of healing and recovery.
The first video, "Give Me Jesus (You Are My One Thing) + Nothing Else [Spontaneous] - UPPERROOM," captures the essence of seeking connection and divinity, reflecting the warmth that embodies love and faith.
The second video, "Ryan Ellis - Heart of the Father (Official Lyric Video)," beautifully illustrates themes of love and belonging, resonating with the nurturing spirit of a mother’s heart.
