It is increasingly impractical to risk the lives of soldiers when drones can be deployed alongside traditional military assets. While human involvement remains crucial, the role of technology will dominate the battlefield in the 21st century. Modern warships often serve as platforms for launching drones, functioning similarly to floating missile systems, while substantial U.S. defense budgets are channeled into drone development.
Drones as a Game Changer Against the Black Sea Fleet
Many have witnessed the numerous maritime assaults over the past several months. I believe these operations are preliminary trials for a larger initiative to neutralize Russia’s maritime missile threats. Drones can significantly reduce casualties among Ukrainian forces.
The cost of constructing naval drones for the Ukrainian military ranges between $10,000 and $15,000, making them a financially viable option for safeguarding both soldiers and civilians. The Mavic 3 drones, being even less expensive, enhance this potential further.

The effectiveness of drones could soon alter the balance of power in warfare. Utilizing drones to drop grenades could prove more efficient than relying solely on them for targeting artillery. DJI has become a significant beneficiary of this conflict, as their products are used extensively by both sides. It raises ethical concerns as Ukraine continues to depend on civilian drones for military purposes. To save lives, Ukraine must secure a sufficient supply of these vital resources.
